Bart Van de Vyver, Ph.D., Founder, CEO
Bart Van de Vyver is responsible for the overall business strategy as well as partnering and alliances. He has extensive project management experience as well as physics expertise. Prior to founding SpinX, he worked at CERN, as a Marie Curie fellow sponsored by the European Community. Most recently, he played a key role in the development of a data acquisition system designed to process 100 gigabytes per second. He was also responsible for the design, construction and operation of an automatic microscope facility. Bart received his M.Sc. degree in Physics from the University of Gent, having spent a year at the Humboldt University in Berlin, and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Brussels for work performed at CERN and at the FKEN laboratory (Nagoya, Japan). He has authored or co-authored more than 20 international scientific publications, and was referee for the journal Nuclear Instruments and Methods.

Piero Zucchelli, Ph.D., Founder, CSO
Piero Zucchelli currently oversees the research and product development strategy at SpinX, which he founded following the invention of the VLV technology. Prior to founding SpinX, he was a physics researcher in INFN (Italy) and a staff member in the Experimental Physics division of CERN (Geneva, Switzerland) where he spent 11 years pursuing and managing innovative developments in photonics, electronics, detection technologies, software and data analysis. Piero received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the University of Ferrara for work performed at SLAC (Stanford, USA) and CERN respectively. He has published more than 70 international scientific publications, and has been referee for various physics journals. In 2005, he was awarded the international “Caterina Tomassoni and Piero Felice Chisesi” prize for a revolutionary idea in the field of physics, the beta-beam.
